Box of Maine School Box Program
Box of Maine has been successful at representing Maine through our foods, smells and breathtaking scenery by packaging everything Maine into gift boxes and shipping all over the world for others to enjoy.
But what about our own local communities?
The owner, Daniel Finnemore, was born and raised in Bangor Maine and graduated from Bangor High School in 2006. Some of his fondest memories in public school were visiting museums to learn about our logging and transportation industry. Learning about Maine agriculture like harvesting sap from Maple trees, harvesting lobster, potatoes and wild blueberries. He also really enjoyed learning about famous people from Maine.
As a small family business with a mission to highlight our great State of Maine, we also are big believers in educating our youth with the rich history behind a lot of the products we offer and the hard-working people who make it happen.
We’ve found that currently Maine has a “Maine Studies” program/curriculum, however, it typically is up to the teacher to decide what resources he/she will use to go alongside with the learning.
This is why we created our School Box Program.
Each month (or whatever frequency you choose) your kids’ classroom will receive a curated Box of Maine with fun snacks, treats and literature about Maine.
Each box will have shareable items to provide enough for approximately 20 students to sample each product.
Example; The Fall Box will have Wild Maine Chocolate covered Blueberries and Fox Family Aroostook County Potato Chips with information on the companies that produce the
product and how they harvest Maine blueberries and potatoes.
Meet the Owner
The owner of Box of Maine will come and talk to the students about how he started his business, discuss how tourism benefits the Maine economy and also share fun Maine Trivia with prizes for the students.
