Hurricane Relief Fluff Raffle
We recently purchased a 5lb Tub O’ Fluff and asked you what we should do with it here. Some of you replied that we should raffle it off and give the proceeds to a Hurricane Relief Fund in Florida.
According to USA Today, “Hurricane Helene slammed into Florida’s coast late Thursday night, dumping heavy rain, forcing water rescues, claiming lives and triggering millions of power outages.
Helene made landfall as a Category 4 hurricane about 11:10 p.m. ET near Perry, Florida, with 140 mph winds, the National Hurricane Center reported. At least 22 fatalities have been blamed on the hurricane so far, authorities said. Officials feared more fatalities would be discovered on Friday.”
So we decided to take any money raised and send it to the Florida Disaster Fund.
The Florida Disaster Fund is the State of Florida’s official private fund established to assist Florida’s communities as they respond to and recover during times of emergency or disaster. In partnership with the public sector, private sector and other non-governmental organizations, the Florida Disaster Fund supports response and recovery activities.
Donations to the Florida Disaster Fund are made to the Volunteer Florida Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization (EIN# 01-0973168), and are tax deductible. Up to 3% (no more than $30,000) is taken from each donation to cover administrative costs, including but not limited to staff salary, indirect costs and credit card and bank transaction fees.
The Florida Disaster Fund distributes funds to service organizations that will serve individuals within their communities with disaster response and recovery.
